Bjork Ft. Skunk Anansie - Army of Me
Hey. I haven’t been able to get onto tumblr for a few days now. So, in that time, I have worked, ate, slept, gone shopping and snowboarding, played PS3 for many hours and I went to see a movie.
I don’t go to see movies in theaters all that much now. Over the years I have developed an extreme dislike for seeing movies in theaters. Not just because of the cost. Mostly because of the environment. The seats usually suck, the popcorn and soda sucks, the people all around you chatting sucks, etc. Theaters just annoy me. So, going against the grain, I decided to go see the new release of the film, Sucker Punch.
It was a good 109 minutes. I didn’t leave feeling like my time was robbed. Mostly because I went into the film not expecting it to be a cinematic masterpiece. The action was stylistic, slick, trippy and well done. I enjoyed the story and liked seeing the girls kick-ass. I feel a bit prudish saying this, but they didn’t need to be so sexy with their dress. But sex still sells, alas. The main thing that caught my attention in the film though, was the music!
There was a bunch of really cool remixes, covers and mash-ups throughout the film, as well as atmospheric, classical background music, but hearing Bjorks Army of Me, remixed by Skunk Anansie, play a few times in the movie, really got my attention the most.
So, because the track has been with me a few days now, I thought I’d toss it up on here. Came across this live performance and dug it, so I thought I’d share. I hope you enjoy it! As for the film, it will kill 109 minutes, but I am no film critic, all I can say is see it for what it is, but don’t expect something life-altering or profound to happen if one does decide to see it. But the music in it, really does kick-ass! Peace.
