The Beatles - Blackbird

I came home from work today and got a call that someone I know died. I knew that their death was emanate, giving the ailment effecting them, but still, that sudden final confirmation that they no longer exist, is always a shock. Even when you expect it.

I got in my car and started driving to where the wake was being held and I started singing this song to myself in order to not break down and loose it.

Over and over I sang and hummed the words to this song in a comforting melody because it was that or cry. I had to keep it together because those who needed to let loose needed me to comfort them.

The whole ying and yang of emotions sometimes has a side you can’t pick. Though when you can, it is always comforting to have a note or tune there to guide you through the tempest.

Peace one and all. Make sure you tell those you love that you do love them. Take care.

Man, this is such a tragically beautiful song! For years I thought it was about lost love. It wasn’t till I was older that I found out it was inspired by the movie Days of Wine and Roses. A classic film based off a screenplay. The film is about alcoholism. Another form of love and dependency for some I suppose. Anyways, enjoy the the track! Peace.

Massive Attack - Angel

I remember in the late 1990’s a friend handed me the album Mezzanine and being completely blown away by it! I had heard Massive Attack before and was a huge fan of Tricky who worked heavily with them on previous albums but Mezzanine was like a cosmic punch to the consciousness!

I could drone on and on about how amazing the album is but if you haven’t listened to it from start to finish, do your mind, body and soul a favour and give it a listen sometime. Your consciousness will thank you! Enjoy the Massive! Peace.
