Mark Lanegan is one of my favorite artists. I’m very excited to give this a listen.

Kurt Vile - The Creature
Somewhat Dylan-esq in that the vocals and rhythm seem to be disconnected from each other: each does its own thing at their own pace. The rhythm has a serious pace to it thanks to the shaker. The vocals are a bit more laid back and slower. This is a great track!

Washed Out - Amor Fati
I was thinking today what my favorite album so far this year was. The next thing I thought of was “what makes an album great”. One of the many things that have always disturbed me about the Grammys was the idea of awarding someone “best album” based on a single song. So what is a great album? It must be fluid and consistant. I had been anticipating Washed Out’s album all year, and when it dropped, it exceded my expectations. The album was fantastic, cover-to-cover. So far it is one of my favorite albums of the year. Now that thought makes me think of the relevancy of a the album, but that’s a topic for another day.

Jean Jaques Perrey and Luke Vibert - Analog Generique
I’m listening to an old old spotify playlist from when I lived in London and this track came on. I haven’t listened to it in ages, but it is pure badass! I can’t handle the groove. It’s off of an album called Moog Acid - referring to the device all of the songs were created with: an old analog moog synth.

Washed Out - Eyes Be Closed
Chill Wave is a genre I could really get behind in principal - but I haven’t really found a whole lot of great songs. Maybe I just haven’t dug deep enough into the genre. This track is an example of everything that I love in this sort of music. Chill, trippy, echoey, harmonics… Beauty!
